Oh Mark I'm so sorry to read this! I should get onto the website more often. My thoughts go out to you as well as your brother's family - what shocking news to hold onto for all these years.

Colin

Hi Greg an Colin,
Thanks for your comments. I trust you are both well. I remember you well Greg. Phil was always talking about his football days with you and the rest of the Cup winning team.
I think there is a photo of you and Phil on here somewhere. There is a photo of the Kent football team and you must be in it.

Kindest regards to you both.
Mark

Mark Such a shock to have read this.
I lived at 18 Im Eichengrund, Wassenberg 73/74 and i remember Phil quite well. Golden Earring's 'Radar Love' always reminds me of him and he used to bring Clive Beesely on our bus sometimes. Incidentally Clive (working as a rep from Kings Lynn) walked into the office where i worked sometime early to mid 80s. It really is a small world.
We hold people in our memories as we last saw them which makes this so hard to believe, and i'm so very sorry :(

Mark, so very sorry to hear about Phil. We hung about together through being Spurs supporters and with an interest in military history. I'll always remember Phil staying with me in Dusseldorf so we could go to 1FC Koln v Spurs together. After the match we were seperated from our lift and surrounded by hundreds of irate Koln supporters [Spurs won 2-1]. Phil came out with the immortal line "Get back to back and we'll fight them off!" Even Michael Caine couldn't have said that.

So sorry to hear this news. Was at Kent with Phil and later was stationed near Wildenrath where he worked in the NAAFI. Bought my first ever colour TV from Phil and its still working 32 years later. I will let my Kent school friends that I am in touch with know. Sad News.

Steve Thornton gave me the tragic news today

I am proud to have known Phil and he was a very good friend whilst i was at Kent school

Phil and i (often?) stayed at each others houses and the memory i will have was that he would always play his favourite record over and over again!!!! it drove us all mad

My sincere condolences to his family
