Subject: Desert Island Discs Thought it might be an idea to see what music menas to you folks. You need 8 records and a book. I assume we get to take the album and not just the one track. Which record would you take if you could only take one.
Here's what I would take with me to the desert island.
Bad Company - Cant Get Enough (Bad Co) 1974 Rheindahlen. First album I bought happy memories of Youffie discos
Rab Noakes - Sittin in a corner blues (Red Pump Special) 1974 Saw him at Glasgow Union then found the album in a local newsagents in 1977 as discontinued.
Allegedly now collectable!
Joe Jackson - Number Two (Body and Soul) 1984 Most awesome sounding recording ever made by anybody Album cover emulates Sonny Rollins on an album of the same name
29th Street sax Quartet - Curious Child (Pointillistic Groove) 1983 Heard Bobby Watson in Edinburgh 1984. During a trip to Canada 1984 I had a couple of days in New
York and found this group playing in a pub. Bobbby asked me to take care of his beer during a break
so I introduced myself and was introduced to the band and bought the album.
Little Steven and Disciples of Soul - Princess of Little Italy (Men without Women) 1982 Edinburgh Saw them live in a small hot steamy club above the Playhouse. Never been to a better gig.
Miles Davis - So What (Kind of Blue) 1959 Inspirational Album that changed the way Jazz was played. Almost as old as me but still listenable.
Joe Temperley - Slow for Joe (Concerto for Joe) 1995 Amazing jazz recording. Went to the world premier of the concerto in Glasgow
Tom Waits - In the neighbourhood (Swordfish Trombones) 1983 Just a part of my Tom Waits collection. The man is a poetic genius.
Book Great White Shark Hunt Hunter S Thomson. 1980 Working in London over a summer and read review in the paper so had to buy it Most Awesome collection of gonzo journalism.
Only one album is Joe Jackson. Cheers Phil

Subject: Dics to survive with Oh, what a question Phil - going to have to dig deep in the LPs (yes LPs) and see what I'd take. Moods can sometimes dictate style so I'd best leave it until today is over with other wise Cohen might be down 8 times! Saw Joe Jackson in Dusseldorf about 1993 and he was brilliant. Di
