Hello Allan,
Thanks for info on Woodwork teacher Mr. Arnold. I had a good time at his lessons. Had me practising my dovetail joints on a box which I painted with a yacht. Tigne Malta I have but faint memories of the Class. I do remember a girl Leslie Banks - curly blonde hair with a sister in the infants section - she sat at the back right corner looking from the teacher's desk to the back. - I sat second row from the right 3rd. desk at the front.I was always rather thin with ash-blonde hair that later darkened due to the years on Malta. We played football in our normal clothes and shoes on the cinder/ashes field opposite the school. Playground was tarmac and behind it led a way to where we had swimming in the Sea. Tuesdays and Thursday. I stayed at the "Pool". as I couldn't swim at the time and had a rubber ring. Once the stopper blew and it deflated forcing me to swim, which worked. Thanks to Malta I learnt to swimm think I was eight or nine at the time. Born 1950. tuesdays and thursday we had swimming.
I don't know if you still remeber me from the Kent era. but I think that patrick Tully, an American, is on your photo. He has a firm stature and was a good swimmer, and persanally a good friend who often visited us in Krefeld Bockum. He lived in Kr-Linn. I spoke to Mr. Lacklison 3 days ago and he recalled him and others of my class.(A thanks to Julie Greig for info concerning Mr. Lacklison). Astonishing his excellent memory.
I'm sure we may have spoken to each other at Kent -What class were you? Your photo seems to be of Summer 64. as we started in Autumn 63.But I may be wrong.Good to see some older entries.

Lacklinson was the comedian who used to make us write out the Lords Prayer as a punisment but didnt tell whether it should be the protestant or catholic version - whichever one we did always turned out to be the wrong one! Re Tigne - Miss Bennett was my class teacher who used to send us to sleep reading "Wind in the Willows" which I still dont know how it ends.
Back to Kent - Mr Ford went onto afterwards to open a school in Essex, somewhere near Southend. Met him along time ago when my father was posted to Shoeburyness. I do remember a lad called Christopher Spence who was at Kent who got quite frustrated at being called SpenceSir as that was how he answered the register - there was a Christopher Spence who was on the news a few years ago something to do with the Higgins Trust or someother AIDS group - may be the same fellow. If it is he is the only person I have heard of from Kent who has made the news.

Sorry Alan, but the name Chris Spence doesn't ring a bell.I wonder much you were involved in sports - athletic or football. I am looking for something significant to put to your name but can't find any event in my memories.
When did Mr. Lacklison start that caper with the Lord's Prayer? "punishment" too. I know that, if I'd be prone to "getting caught" a number of copies would always be at hand - both versions.Comedian is good - brought me to a smile and a good laugh to him, if or when he reads your comment.
As to Tigne I don't even recall my teachers name The classroom was in the block far right when you looked to the playground - practically the last room on the right.

Only bit of sport I got roped into was a cricket game against Queens one lunchtime. Preoccupied with finding ways of getting out of sporty type activities - stood me in good stead - all the best sports are done with a pint in your hand. One of the lads in my photo was extremely good at all sports - Charles Amies who from memory was suffering from some nasty even fatal illness despite that he was athletic. I recognise Duggan in your photo but remember his sister Connie better and her friend June Pinto. Oh those red bloomers!

Alan I only knew that Denis Duggan had a sister who was still at primary school she must have come to Kent
a bit later.Cricket against Queens during lunchtime (we often had lunchtime football matches inter house. came later too. I only fancied Cricket when I played it. otherwise considered it as striking as golf.I was hopeless at crawl swimming, cross country, medium and runs longer than preferably 400 meters. High Jump and discus. specials 100 meters long jump and cricket ball/javelin.
If you want you can cn write to my email
greetings Jürgen.

I remember being asked to write an essay on the subject of the inside of a pingpong ball by Mr. Ruston (my form tutor 1RR & 2RR) - also the drama teacher (always wore black). What a toughey that was. My dad even made me sit at the dining table one evening to write it (RAF Wildenrath). Also, Mr. Ellis (RE teacher), made me write something religious as a punishment, which I had to hand in the next day. He never even read it, but tore it up in front of everyone else in the class !!! How gutting was that ??? Scarred me for life. If teachers did that today, the European Court of Human Rights would become involved !!!
