Subject: Hostert Military Hospital

Hi

Im not sure if im on the correct site or even if anyone can advise me. My husband was born in Hostert in the British Military Hospital in 1960. He has never been back since leaving as a child. I have booked a break just after Christmas to M“nchengladbach. Can anyone tell me what I can expect to see, he has often expressed a wish to go back to where he was born, will he be disappointed? I can find very little about Hostert.

Thank you for any input.

I was also born there in 1960 - and then returned in 1975 for a couple of years when the buildings had become Kent School. Your husband is bound to be disappointed at the state of the place and may not even be able to gain entry (however, there are a few on this site who have never let fences get in their way - including those at the Blue Pool!) So, I'm sure it's worth a visit - nothing lasts forever - the maternity hospital where I live is now a nursing home - no doubt some of the residents will end their days where they started them! Hope you enjoy your trip. I had my first funny ciggie in M'Gladbach (but I didn't inhale (just incase I want to run for President or something similar)).
