The "Lets Have Another One" Reunion Newsletter

Well it's hardly a surprise now, is it? We all had such a brilliant time at the Reunion in Minehead, met so many old friends and made loads of new ones, that it seems silly to just leave it at that. So whaddya know, no sooner did we all crawl our weary and hungover way home, than the first messages hit the website-when is the next one? And where? And who do I send the cheque to? Not so fast, first things first ...

Nottingham Meeting ...

Your hardworking Reunion committee had a meeting in Nottingham on the last weekend of June. We all piled into a hotel for a few drinks, a nice dinner (your kind whip-round funded dinner-thanks) and a bit of a post-mortem. Unfortunately, webmaster and all-round party king DJ Daz was unable to attend this meeting, but we welcomed two additional members onto the committee (the mad fools actually volunteered! Probably suffering post-reunion euphoria at the time...), so now Di Stone and Mark Benbow will be helping the rest of us.

Reunion Feedback ...

Ian Palmer had very cleverly collated all the feedback info from the forms handed out at the reunion, and was able to tell us in pretty clear detail exactly what was wanted for the next reunion. After we had enjoyed a quick pat-on-the-back-session all round, we got down to the nitty-gritty and decided that the following was the best way to go for the future:

Kent School Association ...

We decided that we should form an Association; this gives us a legal framework to work to, and means that we can organise reunions or any other events properly. The Association will have its’ own bank account and rules - details of these will be in a future newsletter.

The Next Reunion ...

Well all we really had to decide was when and where! The consensus of opinion was that we should look to having the next reunion in the early autumn of 2003 - this will give us plenty of time to organise a really fantastic event and also very importantly, time to track down more of our old school friends. We all agreed that the cost should be as 'user friendly' as possible, and that we needed a more central venue this time. There were lots of discussions about what events we would want at the actual reunion, as well as ideas for venues, Kent School goodies and fundraising ideas, but we’ll be discussing those properly in the future. Suffice to say the next one will be bigger and even better than Minehead 2002!

Future Plans ...

We decided to hold regular face-to-face committee meetings every quarter. These can be used to catch up on Association and Reunion progress, and thrash out strategies for going forward. If you have anything you want to suggest, any ideas or information we might be able to use, you can mail them to any of us @kentschool.co.uk or mention them at the online chats, every Tuesday and Friday 9pm. And we’ll keep you up to date with newsletters as and when there is news to tell!

Looking forward to Reunion 2003!

Kent School Reunion Committee
